Textron Systems Geospatial Solutions App
After the successful implementation of Textron’s Synturian UAV control system, they came back to ask for a UX strategy that combined all their geospatial solutions products into one master app.
As UX lead, I spearheaded the UX strategy. After intensive on-site kickoff meetings, we generated a list of necessary product components, and non-persona user stories that would drive this new product.
From these user stories I created a flow linking all of the user mandates.
Based on the onsite takeaways and user flows, I determined that the best UX solution lay in a map-centric experience. All functionality could be visualized and activated via a map positioned in the main field of view.
This mapping interaction vocabulary was incorporated throughout the experience, including search results, image mark-up, and video mark-up.
The final visual design needed color to maintain clarity and designate functionality.
Textron was extremely impressed with the final outcome and is currently implementing it with their in-house programmers. They plan to come back for phase III UX.
